Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecastr 10/13/2025

Nick brings us the forecast this week. While most of the coast got hammered by the low pressure system this week, the Valley was left with little to no rainfall accumulation. Our water is still low and clear, but the fall weather is really settling in. We are experiencing some higher winds early this week that are leading to some "leaf hatches". We will continue the cooler nights this week with very comfortable and sunny days. On our larger rivers the cold nights have really changed the smallmouth fishing and triggered them to their winter holes. As a result most of our larger river fishing has shifted to Musky. The mountain brook trout streams are still very low and we should start to see some signs of the spawn picking up here in the next few weeks. Without the water those streams need, we would recommend spending most of your time fishing our spring creeks. On the spring creeks, hoppers are still around and the windy days have been blowing hopper into the creek and leading to some good dry dropper fishing. hopper patterns like parachute hoppers, moorish hoppers and PMX have been producing. When fish are not looking up, we are doing best fishing streamers and nymphs. Indicator rigs have been best for the deep holes, but dry droppers have been key for spooky fish on sunny days. Overcast days have been great for fishing streamers and covering water. Load up your boxes with a mixture of larger streamers as well as small/ natural ones. We like a good variety of streamers like kreelex, thin mints, crystal buggers, soccer moms and bunny muddlers to name a few. We will keep our fingers crossed for more rain closer to the weekend. Get out and enjoy the fishing this week as the weather is about as good as it gets! Watch the video for a full breakdown of what to expect this week.
