Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 7/13/2026

Andy brings us the forecast this week. Water levels have improved in some drainages with rain from the last week. Dry River is up a bit and North River has good water for the week ahead. Little yellow stones, ants, and small beetles have been working well but the fish have spread out recently since water levels jumped up and they are eating just about any attractor dry fly or dry dropper rig. Mossy Creek and Beaver Creek are in good shape right now and folks are enjoying some rising fish eating tricos in the early morning hours and ants and beetles throughout the day. Dry droppers are great ways to prospect around and find the hungry fish. Overcast, rainy days, and dirty water periods get those streamers out. The smallmouth fishing has been good so far in July but we have some stained conditions right now. The topwater fishing may slow down temporarily but the fish will also not be as spooky this week. Crayfish and baitfish patterns, and spoon minnows will be great options early in the week. Swim frogs and big deer hair bugs will be good once we have a few feet of visibility and then poppers and sneaky petes once we have 3-4 feet of visibility. Carp fishing will improve once we can see fish in the shallows again but they are usually pretty active in stained water conditions. Temps will be a bit milder early in the week, spike mid week, and then we cool off slightly towards the weekend when we expect some more wet weather! Get out and enjoy the options this week as the fishing will be good!
