Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 7/6/2026

Brian brings us the forecast this week. It has been a HOT few weeks and we will see a slight change in the weather ahead with temps in the 80's vs 90's and 100's. Rain will hit us this week but mainly in the form of severe thunderstorms. We have had some very windy nasty storms the last few days and we will have many more this week. So safety is key this week if you are on the water especially floating long distances on the bigger rivers or if you are hiking in the mountains. We have had quite a few big trees and limbs falling in the area with wind gusts up to 80mph in these storms. We will do our best to update you throughout the week on water flows in different drainages. Mountain brook trout streams can come back online if we get some significant rainfall. Ants, beetles, and little yellow stones are staples for the summer months. Tricos, ants, and beetles are important on the spring creeks but get ready for some streamer action this week during overcast periods and during high water events. Bass fishing has been good but we anticipate spikes in water flow along with slugs of muddy water between these intense storms. Good news is we will be getting some water just hopefully not all in just a few hours! Water temps should drop a bit with lows back in the 60's mixed with these rainy overcast days. So for bass fishing you could have some great topwater action to continue on the clear days but anticipate having to fish some larger crayfish and baitfish patterns when the water levels rise! Stay tuned and keep praying for rain!!
