Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 7/20/2026

Colby brings us the fishing forecast for the week. We are looking at much milder temps this week once we get beyond Tuesdays cold front. Highs in the 70's and low 80's into the weekend will make for some delightful weather to be outside. Watch the weather all day Tuesday into Wednesday morning as we are expecting severe storms and possible damaging winds. Fishing may slow a bit Wednesday on the backside of this cold front but should improve Thursday and Friday. The spring creeks are fishing well and the dry fly fishing with beetles and ants has been really productive and fun. Tricos will continue to hatch throughout the summer months and hoppers are going to be more important in the coming weeks. Some of our brook trout streams received a big shot of water last week and over the weekend. Dry River is up and fishing well right now. We are hoping rain Tuesday into Wednesday will give us another bump in flow to keep the brook trout happy. Little yellow stones, attractor dries and nymphs, in size 12-16 will cover you. Bass fishing has been good. Water levels are still low but normal for summer time. We will likely see the bass fishing slow down on the backside of this cold front especially the topwater bite. Be sure to have plenty of crayfish patterns to fish deep and slow. Action should pick up by the end of the week and for the weekend. Enjoy the cooler weather this week and keep praying for rain!
