Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 7/27/2026

Andy brings us the forecast this week. Cooler temps with highs only in the lower 80's will be welcome along with a potentially decent shot of rain Tuesday and Tuesday night. Watch for windy conditions on the backside of this front on Wednesday. Conditions stabilize a bit Thursday and Friday and then it looks like we could see more rain Saturday night into early next week. Water levels are hovering around average to below average right now in our immediate area around Harrisonburg. We have some fishable brook trout water out on Dry River right now and some of the larger park streams. Mossy Creek and Beaver Creek have good water flow right now and good terrestrial fishing with beetles, ants, and small hoppers. The bass fishing has been solid on stable weather days and on pre-front days. These cold fronts pushing through will soften the bite for a few days on the backside. Bass are eating topwater most afternoons and evenings when the dragonflies and damselflies are most active. As water levels bump up with storms be prepared to fish stained water with some larger baitfish and subsurface patterns. Enjoy the milder weather this week and pray we get a good shot of rain Tuesday and over the weekend!!
