Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 10/19/2026

Brian brings us the forecast this week. Rain from the previous weekend and from last week helped get all our surrounding rivers and streams up to 'average' water levels for this time of year. The good news is we have great water flow right now. The bad news is the 10 day forecast isn't showing any precipitation so enjoy this water while it lasts! The weather is nice this week with chilly nights but sunny days in the 60's and low 70's making it the perfect temp to be outside fishing. If you enjoy brook trout fishing head up to the mountains now before the spawn and while we have the water. DWR is out stocking right now. The Jackson special reg, Passage Ck DH, South River, Elkhorn Lake, Bullpasture, Spring Run, Back Creek DH, Tye River, and Hawksbill are just a few that have been stocked the past 2 weeks. Load up on your favorite attractors with plenty of indicators and split shot on those rivers. The spring creeks are in good shape with some tricos still hatching in the early morning hours. Hoppers and terrestrial insects will start to dwindle with these frosty nights but the dry fly fishing will be good on these stable sunny days ahead. Be sure to have plenty of nymphs with you as well or small jig streamers to bounce along the bottom! Bass anglers can find some action in the afternoon hours this week once water temps hit their peak for the day. Most of the bass are in their wintering lies right now so target the larger deeper pools! Musky fishing should crank up. We have better water color and levels than we have had in months and water temps are perfect. The calm days will have lighter leaf litter than the breezy ones! Enjoy this picture perfect fall weather!!
