Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 9/21/2026

Nick brings us the forecast this week. As we were filming it started to rain, not much, but it got the ground wet and ready for more. It is hard to get excited about the prospect of rain when we have had so many forecasts result in zero precipitation. This week though we are looking to be guaranteed some rain. We are hoping for a few inches between Monday evening and Thursday afternoon. This along with cooler weather will make the trout anglers very happy. If you are looking to get some brook trout fishing in before the spawn this may be a good window for you. The spring creek anglers will enjoy some streamer fishing in the rainy and overcast weather as well. The dry fly fishing has been good but the low clear water has had the fish very spooky. We are hoping for some greedy streamer grabs during this weather change! The smallmouth have been hungry today already and the big bass are eating. For the past 2 months of hot and sunny days every frontal boundary that brought rain also brought along with it a good bite window from our big smallmouth. A bump in water levels will also change up the program and bring us some better streamer fishing! Water temps will start to dip a bit and we will keep a close eye on it as the window for musky fishing approaches!
