Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 10/20/2025

Brian brings us the forecast this week. Leaves are falling and the wind is currently blowing. Expect breezy weather to continue the next few days. Tuesday the wind will be a bit lighter and then we have some gusty winds for Wednesday. Not much rain in the forecast until next week so expect some more dry weather through the weekend. Rain Sunday night did not amount to as much as we hoped looking at the radar but we managed around .25 plus in the region and we will take every drop we can get. We will need close to or over an inch to really help reset our water levels especially up in the mountains. Brook trout fishing is pretty much non-existent with the low water and leaf litter right now and many of our brook trout will be spawning. We will be giving the brook trout quite a bit of time before we are back out fishing for them. DWR is stocking and have hit some Delayed Harvest waters and some of our larger stocked rivers like the Jackson, Back Creek, Bullpasture, Cowpasture, and South Rivers. Some of our favorite lakes have been stocked as well and they can be a fun option when the rivers are low! The spring creeks have decent water flow as well and Beaver Creek received a pretty good shot of rain Sunday night. Bass fishing will be very tough with the cold nights mixed with leaf litter in the larger rivers. Musky fishing should be pretty good on the calmer days when you won't have to deal with leaves. We anticipate the worst of the 'leaf hatch' coming in the next 2 weeks. Check out the video for all the details on where to go and how to put a few in the net this week!
