Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 10/27/2025

Brian brings us the forecast this week. It cool and calm today and we have some weather in route. Wednesday into Friday morning look to be the best chance for rain with the bulk of it coming Wednesday night. If we get over an inch mid week with showers most of the day Thursday it would set us up nicely for the weekend ahead and next week. The weather is cooling off with nights in the 30's and highs only in the 50's so you will need your fall/winter gear for fishing this week and next. DWR has been stocking our local lakes and Hone Quarry, Briery Branch and Elkhorn have been stocked recently. We anticipate more river stockings once water levels improve. Get your streamers and nymph rigs ready for the week. Streamer fishing should be good while we have overcast and rainy weather and stained water conditions. Nymph rigs once we are on the backside of the front and the skies clear up and water clarity improves. Bass fishing was challenging the past few weeks with wind and leaf litter creating issues. Winter tactics are in play for bass. You will need to find the deep holes with the best structure- rock ledges and wood! The bass will be stacked up in those areas until they move to spawn next spring. Musky anglers are seeing some action but with the clear water these fish are also spooky and can be hard to approach. Long casts are in play unless you find a fish laid up on the bottom or a ledge. Then you can finesse these fish with bottom crawling patterns. Let's keep our fingers crossed for rain to help improve fishing conditions everywhere! Check out the video for all the details.
