Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 11/3/2025

Brian brings us the forecast this week. It is sunny, mild, and is looking to be a beautiful week for getting outside and enjoying the last bit of fall colors and decent water flow while it lasts. Most of our local creeks and streams got a small bump in water flow last week. You can find a bit of flow up on the mountain streams but brook trout are spawning and we are giving them some distance until they are done and water levels improve dramatically. That said the larger stocked waters especially on the east side of the valley have a bit more water flow. South River has better flow, North River is at average flow for this time of year. Passage, Rapidan, Rose, Robinson and east slope park streams are moving again. Expect them to be low and clear but actually have some flow for another week or so. DWR stocks the lower sections of a few of the east slope streams. Bullpasture, Cowpasture, and Jackson are low but have been stocked and have some fish in the deeper runs and pools. The lakes have been fishing pretty well to our west. Switzer has been giving up some brook trout, Elkhorn, Briery Branch, Hone quarry stocked up. Look for blue wing olive hatches in the afternoon hours and rising fish throughout the winter months on these lakes for some fun sight fishing opportunities! On the warm water rivers we will likely see some big bass caught this week with stable and mild weather. Musky fishing has been pretty good with some big fish hooked lately. Watch for calm days to fish to avoid a bunch of leaves falling and collecting in the large winter pools. We are hoping leaves won't be as much of a problem in a few weeks! If you have a clear schedule on Saturday come visit us for our Open House event with George Daniel. He will be doing a few presentations that day and we will have our raffle, sale, chili, and local beer! Stop in and visit!
