Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 8/18/2026

Andy brings us the forecast this week. We are enjoying a small bump of rain from the weekend and late last week and hoping for more Thursday into the weekend. Mountain trout fishing has been good in the drainages that have had significant rain. Dry River and North River have fishable water for a few days. Attractor dries and nymphs with little yellow sallys, ants, and beetles should be all you need! Tricos in the morning, hex are strong all day and in the evening, and hoppers, crickets, and beetles are everywhere. We hope to get some streamer fishing in later this week if we get some big rains! The bass fishing really turned on the past few days and the topwater bite has really improved. Good numbers and size bass have been reported since the water crested on the South Fork. Carp fishing has been solid and will continue if we have low water. Cooler weather is on the way later this week and into next week. Anyone looking to fish this weekend should be hitting conditions just right! Check out our sale room for some killer deals on gear and great pricing on some of our favorite flies! Enjoy the week out there!
