Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 12/20/2021
Brian brings us our fly fishing forecast for the holiday week ahead. If you were hoping for rain, may be ask Santa to put that on the list of things you'd like as the 10 day isn't showing much relief from this recent dry spell. All of our local creeks and rivers are running below average flow and gin clear. Temperatures are mild making for some enjoyable days outside but it will be nice once water flows are restored to normal. Fishing in low clear water does require some technique adjustments and stealth. It can be challenging but is quite rewarding. Long light leaders are usually necessary to keep from spooking fish. Be sure to load up on BWO dry flies and midges as these will be hot flies through the end of the year. It is a great time to go to your favorite rivers and check out the river bottom, main structures, and where the fish hang out! You might be surprised what you can find in these conditions and it is how many of the guides here at the shop locate the largest fish and dominant structures that attract large fish. We are open this week Monday-Friday closing at 4pm Friday. We will be CLOSED SATURDAY AND SUNDAY DECEMBER 25-26. Open next week under normal hours. Have a Merry Christmas!
