Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 11/17/2025
Nick brings us the forecast this week. We are expecting some cold weather to continue until Wednesday when we will see some 60 degree days again. There are some overcast and rainy days Tuesday, and then Thursday evening until Saturday morning. Unfortunately it isn't looking like we are going to get much significant precipitation but we take any drops that come our way. Plan on having some cloudy weather on Tuesday, Friday, and most of Saturday! Mountain streams are still pitiful looking so it is still a waiting game until the brook trout fishing comes back online. DWR has been out stocking where they can. Recent areas of interest would be Jackson Special Reg, Bullpasture, Elkhorn Lake, South River, and N Fork Shenandoah. Anglers with boats have been having some fun on the lakes looking for cruising fish and those eating off the surface. The Jackson tailwater and spring creeks have been the best producers and that trend will likely continue until we get some major rain. Musky fishing has been pretty good. Our crew has been out moving and hooking a few the past few days between the relentless wind gusts. We are hoping the wind takes a break as it has been non stop this fall! For anyone trout fishing this week if you are able definitely try and target those overcast and rainy days. The streamer fishing has been great under those conditions. Try to avoid the backside of the front. Calm and overcast days you should start seeing some afternoon BWO hatches along with some caddis popping off. Don't forget your small flies as we are in midge season. With low and crystal clear water you want to load up on your zebra midges and micro sized bugs!
