Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 12/22/2025
Andy brings us the forecast this holiday week! Conditions have improved dramatically recently with rain and now a very warm looking week ahead. Expect 60 degree weather a few days this week with most days in the mid 50's. There is some rain expected as well. Stream levels are much improved with even our high mountain streams flowing for the first time in a few months. We had reports of brook trout caught on Dry River end of last week. DWR is out stocking and we expect some more rivers and streams will be stocked with improved water flows. The spring creeks are benefiting from the recent bump in flows and our warmwater rivers are back up flowing nicely again as well. Musky have been very active and we found a few hit the net over the weekend. The best news for this holiday week is we have a lot more options available. We can find some brook trout up in the mountains, some stocked fish on the bigger freestones and lakes, some dry fly fishing with blue wing olives on the spring creeks, or some big bass or musky on the Shenandoah, James, and New. It looks like this warm spell may hang around a while so if we can keep some water flowing we could start 2026 off with a bang! Everyone have a safe and merry Christmas this week and we will see you next week before 2025 ends!
