Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 8/28/2023

Nick brings us the forecast this week. The good news is the bass fishing today was excellent despite the low water levels. We could get up to and over 1 inch of rain on Tuesday and Tuesday night. An inch won't do much long term but we will take what we can get. There is a possibility we could catch the edge of some tropical weather by the end of the week or weekend. The trico spinnerfall is still happening daily around 8:30 and 9am. Hex are hatching and you should see a few popping off the creek throughout the day and then they will get thick in the evening hours. Ants, beetles, hoppers, and crickets are all in play right now. Tuesday might be a good day to throw some streamers while it is overcast, dark, and raining. There will be more trout fishing options once we get some significant rainfall. Until then we will continue to focus on the bass fishing into October. The topwater bite was incredible all day Monday. Swim frogs crushed fish. Cork poppers, deer hair bugs, swim frogs, wiggle minnows, murdich sliders, and sneaky petes should be in everyones box. Clawdads, clousers, murdich minnows, ck baitfish, and other baitfish patterns like the bunny muddlers and rascals have been working well. If you don't have plans for the upcoming weekend the mobile fly truck will be at Wintergreen Resort on Saturday from 12-5 for the Cabin Jam event. Come touch up on your casting or check out a new fly rod to demo. We are also having a big fly sale this week! Grab $75 or more in flies and save 25%
