Nick brings us the forecast this week. We are excited to see a threat of rain just about every day through next week. It is looking like Wednesday and Friday will be the days to expect the most rain and wind. The team here at the shop will be updating rainfall totals and stream flows on our social media channels throughout the week. Until the weather pattern changes expect conditions this week to be similar to the past few weeks. Trout fishing is limited from low water conditions but the spring creeks are seeing good trico hatches in the mornings. Beetles and grasshoppers are out and the fish are tuning into them. Most of the hoppers are small in size 10 and 12 and mostly green, tan, and yellow. Morrish hoppers, fat alberts, pmx, Amy's Ants, stimulators are all working well for hopper imitations. Any beetle pattern will get attention as well. All trico patterns should work in size 20. If you have a hard time seeing or fishing trico patterns try an ant pattern in size 16 or 18 as fish will usually take them in the mornings during the trico hatch. You could enjoy some streamer fishing over the next few weeks on the overcast and rainy days. Streamer fishing in the rain this time of year can provide some of the best trout fishing action. Be sure to have some black, olive, brown, and purple streamer patterns for the overcast and rainy days! Our bass fishing continues to be great. Hot sunny days will push fish to the shade lines. Overcast and cloudy days you will want to fish structure all over the river and don't neglect the mid river ledges out in the middle even with topwater flies. Soft Chews, swim frogs, wiggle minnows, flash drives, flash dance, galloup streamer patterns, and any large baitfish pattern will work. Crayfish flies are excellent all summer long and will give you shots at feeding carp as well! We are excited for some rain and hopefully everyone VA gets plenty over the next few weeks to get water levels bumped up. Have fun out there this week!
