Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 4/21/2025

Nick brings us the forecast this week. We have a beautiful week ahead and the best news is it is looking like the wind will give us a break for once! Expect temps in the 70's during the day, sunny and partly sunny conditions with calm or light winds. We should see some great dry fly fishing this week from the mountains to the spring creeks. March browns, hendricksons, blue wing olives, little black stones, caddis are popping off in the mountains. Sulphurs have started to come off and that hatch is getting more prolific. Reports from Mossy, Beaver, and Smith Creek were fish were caught on dry flies much of the day today. Smaller streamers, jig streamers, crystal buggers, tactical zonkers, ect for streamers in natural colors, and most nymphs in size 12-16 will work. Lots of big nymphs crawling around are ready to hatch so check the rocks on the bottom and match the hatch! The smallmouth rivers look beautiful right now and with the warm weather this week we anticipate seeing bass spawning all over the place. We saw nests swept in spots but not in huge numbers but conditions look prime this week. We will be out a few days and will be counting nests to get an idea of how spawn will be this year. Without any major cold snap or any real high water we could have another epic spawn class with how our river conditions are right now. Nick lays out the hatches, flies, and where you should head this week so check out the full video below! Enjoy this beautiful week ahead!
