Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 7/25/2022

Nick brings us the forecast for the week ahead. It is looking like we will cool down a tad this week with highs in the 80's vs the 90's. We also have more unstable air as there will be a 20-70% chance of afternoon storms just about every day this week into next week. Hopefully we get rain in the evening hours or over night to keep things 'fresh' but won't negatively impact your day on the water! The mountain brook trout fishing has slowed down quite a bit as water levels are running pretty low everywhere. There may be an opportunity coming up to get out and chase brookies again if we get a big pulse of rain. Keep an eye on the radar this week to see if your favorite drainage gets a soaking. Until then focus on the tailwaters and spring creeks where you will find much colder water. Tricos, ants, beetles, hoppers, and now crickets are playing a big role on the spring creeks right now. We will be anticipating the evening hex hatch here in the coming weeks. The bass fishing is in peak right now. The South Fork has been running very clear and the sight fishing has been very fun. Topwater frogs, minnows, poppers, crayfish, and hellgrammite patterns are all in play. Cycle through these flies until you start getting action. As long as we don't get any localized flooding this week the fishing should remain in excellent condition! Watch the entire video for all the details and take a look at our recommended flies below.
