Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 7/18/2022
Andy brings us this weeks forecast. It is looking to be a hot one but that only means 1 thing for smallmouth fishing and that is the action will be just as hot! We need to keep an eye on localized rainfall and thunderstorms through Monday night and then the skies should be clear all the way into the weekend. Rainfall Sunday afternoon and night was intense at times but gauges still appear to be normal. If our bass waters continue to drop and warm up the action should just continue to be excellent. Bass have been jumping for damselflies and dragonflies in the afternoon hours into the evenings. If you decide to trout fish this week know that it is going to be hot in the 90's most days. The tailwaters and the spring creeks will provide the best action. The tricos have been swarming in the early morning hours and the fish are still taking ants and beetles but keying in more on hoppers. The mountain streams are running around average flow but that is much lower this time of year than a few months ago. Some of the East slope streams of the Shenandoah National Park got a shot of rain Sunday and Sunday evening to help boost flows but we will be focused on the bass action this week. We are having a fly sale this week through Friday! Check it out online as we are loaded up on your favorite patterns!
