Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 12/4/2023
Brian brings us the forecast this week. Good news is we got a nice shot of rain over the weekend. Forecasts were showing just showers but we received over an inch in much of the region. Small streams and creeks bumped up a bit. Mossy is up and running a tad off color. Warm and overcast weather has made for some good streamer fishing. Some large fish were caught over the weekend and reports should be good much of this week. Expect darker and cooler days through Wednesday. Thursday on we warm up a bit with some sunny weather. Sunday looks to be windy, rainy, and overcast again! Again, streamer fishing will be good early this week and once the water gets clear again we anticipate some good dry fly fishing in the afternoons when the blue wing olives start hatching. DWR is out stocking again so keep an eye on their website for updates. Best trout fishing is still occurring on the spring creeks, tailwaters, and creeks and streams over in West VA. Some of our local lakes are still fishing well with great dry fly opportunities in the afternoons when the small blue wing olives and midges are on the water! Warm afternoons last week allowed for some big bass to be caught and the musky fishing is certainly a bit easier with these overcast days with bumps in flow with a little color added to the water! Now is a great time to float the bigger rivers and stick a trophy bass or musky! We are enjoying this change in the weather pattern and you should try to take a break from the holiday rush to get outside for a few days! Stop by the shop to check out our holiday gifts, huge inventory of winter fishing gear, and sale items. We are having a customer appreciation night on Thursday from 6-8pm. Hot little smokies, apple cider, adult beverages, a big in store sale, and a chance to win a Mossy Creek Gift Card! Stop by and hang out with the crew, local anglers, and get your holiday shopping complete!
