Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 11/4/2024

Nick brings us the forecast this week. We have a slight change in weather as some wind has moved in with some gusts over 15 mph expected into Wednesday. Warm weather is back for the week with temps in the upper 60's and 70's into Saturday. Not much rain in the forecast but we could get a shower Wednesday night into Thursday and then next week is looking promising for a little moisture. We are very dry again although there are still some good trout fishing options. Back Creek DH, Jackson Special Reg, North River DH, Roanoke DH, Cowpasture, Bullpasture, Stony Creek in Shenandoah Co and some of our local lakes like Hearthstone, Elkhorn, Briery Branch, Hone Quarry, Sugar Hollow Reservoir, and a bunch of our favorite West VA streams have been stocked. We do have some overcast weather some days this week that will really help improve fishing quality! Bass and musky fishing has been good but may get tough this week with the wind and the leaves dropping. I think the next few days with gusty winds with the possibility of some rain will help a big majority of the leaves drop. Typically leaves aren't a big issue after the middle of the month. We have caught some big smallmouth and largemouth lately and we have found most of the biggest fish hanging in the deepest holes with the best ledge structure. Find a big hole over 10 feet deep with cover and odds are there will be a few big ones hanging in there. With water being low and clear you can scout holes and even if you spook fish there is a good chance they will be there all winter long! Enjoy the beautiful weather again this week while it lasts and keep praying for rain!
