Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 10/31/2022

Brian brings us the forecast this week. It is currently raining and we anticipate more tonight but we will have to wait and see if it is enough to get our streams up and flowing nicely again. The 10 day forecast is not showing much more than beautiful mild weather in the 60's during the day and 40's at night. DWR stocked some of our local impoundments for those that enjoy a bit of stillwater fishing. Hone Quarry, Briery Branch, Elkhorn, and Hearthstone have been stocked. Switzer is also available to fish and has some quality sized triploid brown trout. These trout are sterile so you do not have to worry about fishing them as they will not spawn. You will not find a ton of water in Back Creek, The Jackson, Bullpasture, or Cowpasture but they have been stocked and we have seen some nice fish from all of those rivers. Spring Run is tough right now but also has some big fish available. South River has been very busy with angling traffic but you can pick off nice fish in most of the deeper runs and pools. Beaver Creek has been decent lately but permits are still a challenge to get as it is the best option for quality numbers of fish right now. Mossy has been challenging lately as many of the browns have been seen in spawning activity. Musky anglers have been seeing plenty of fish but they have been very spooky in this low and clear water. Now is a great time to go out and scout the larger rivers to find fish and learn the structure you fish during the spring and summertime. Check out the entire video for tips on what to use and where to go this week! We have been very busy in the shop outfitting folks with new waders, boots, winter gear, and fly tying materials. Now is a great time to gear up before prices increase again with the new year. We will be receiving some major orders this week updating rods, reels, lines, terminal tackle, and a boatload of tying materials.
