Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 9/30/2024

Nick brings us updates on the recent flooding rains. Most of our larger rivers will experience another spike from rain late Sunday night and Monday morning but it looks like the worst is behind us. We do have rain in the forecat into Wednesday but it looks like soft and steady rain showers vs intense rainfall. We should start drying out Wednesday evening and through the weekend. Most fishing options are limited to Mossy Creek and some local ponds and smaller lakes not affected by the flooding rain. We are hoping Beaver Creek, Smith Creek, and a few of the higher elevation brook trout streams will be fishable by the weekend. The larger rivers like the Shenandoah won't be fishable until sometime next week. Now is a good time to comb through your gear and prep for fall. We have a sale on some very popular flies and if you tie, we have a fly tying promotion this week to load up your boxes for the fall season ahead. Stay safe out there and we will continually update conditions on our social channels this week as we continue to scout the rivers and streams.

For flies if fishing the spring creeks opt for large streamers like Kreelex, dungeons, circus peanuts, sparkle minnnows, boogie man, articulated monkeys, nut crackers, sculpinators....
