Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 10/21/2024

Nick brings us the forecast this week. A large high pressure system is still hanging over most of the country giving us nothing but fair weather, blue skies, and very sunny days. There is not a lot of rainy weather looking into November so get out and enjoy the good stream flows while they last! The mountain trout streams have been fishing well. Dry droppers are producing fish but a majority of fish are coming off nymphs most days. Attractor nymphs or multi nymph rigs under a strike indicator will produce the most fish but caddis are popping off and you can still catch some fish on dry flies, especially on these sunny warm days. The spring creeks have been off and on lately from the bright sunny weather. Susie Q Farm, Mossy Creek, and Beaver Creek are seeing some caddis hatch and some bwo's in the afternoon and evening hours. There are still some hoppers around for dry fly enthusiasts as well. Smaller sized jig streamers, sculpin patterns, crayfish flies, and dry dropper rigs with a hopper or cricket up top and a sili legs, sob, or frenchie style nymph will get some attention. Bass anglers are enjoying this warm weather and we are enjoying seeing a few big fish being caught. Musky anglers are having great success right now. Water levels, clarity, and temps are excellent. Get out and enjoy the musky fishing before the leaves really start dropping and choking up the rivers!
