Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 9/26/2024
Brian brings us some updates on the weather this week. Right now most of our large rivers are rising quickly and some are at or about to hit flood stage with a lot more rain on the way. The bulk of the hurricane weather will hit Friday and then we will have bands of rain off and on into next week. West of town the smaller brook trout streams are still fishable while the Blue Ridge streams are currently flooding. North River, Dry River, and Skidmore Fork are in decent shape but that can rapidly change overnight or tomorrow when the bulk of the storm rain bands will hit. Mossy is stained right now but safe to fish and could produce some big fish with large streamer patterns. We will provide updates as we monitor the progress of this system but options will be limited for a while. Stay safe out there and hopefully there won't be too much damage from flooding.
For flies if fishing the spring creeks opt for large streamers like Kreelex, dungeons, circus peanuts, sparkle minnnows, boogie man, articulated monkeys, nut crackers, sculpinators....
