Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 5/31/2022

Brian brings us the forecast this week. It is going to start out as a HOT ONE! Temps will be pushing 90 until later in the week when things normalize a bit with temps back into the 70's. The best fishing right now is up in the mountains. The brook trout fishing is on fire. Sulphurs, drakes, little yellow stones are so thick at times it is disorienting. Dry droppers with your favorite attractors in size 12-16 will take fish almost at will. Reports have been fantastic everywhere. The larger freestone trout streams will come back online this week. South, Cowpasture, Bullpasture, Jackson were all running a bit high over the weekend. They will be closer to average flow by the end of the week. The Shenandoah is fishable today with only about 12" vis. Fishing is tough but will get better as the week goes on and clarity improves. The smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, and musky fishing should be great by the weekend. Keep an eye on Thursday as there is a threat of an afternoon thunderstorm that could mix things up a bit. Other than that stay cool and hydrated for the next few days but enjoy the amazing fishing!
