Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 4/20/2026
Brian brings us the forecast this week. We have another major weather reset going on with the cold front pushing through on Sunday. Rain came early Sunday morning and it wasn't supposed to amount to much of anything at all but we were fortunate to get .3" of an inch. Not enough to really change much but welcome nonetheless. Cool weather is expected until the middle of the week and then we will begin to warm up again. Mountain brook trout fishing has been great. We expect a bit of a slowdown on the bite for a few days but looking forward to good dry fly fishing for brookies later this week. The spring creeks will start to see more significant sulphurs in the evenings so the evening hatch should be on your schedule if you can fish late in the day. DWR is out stocking and we have just over a month left so get out and enjoy those special reg and DH waters while they are prime. Bass have been up and in their spawning areas early this year with water temps unseasonably warm for mid April. We had water temps in the 70's last week! Now water temps are taking a nose dive so we anticipate bass to be in varying stages of spawning right now. While water is very low and clear please keep an eye out for bass on nests and avoid pulling them away from nesting sites. Wind will die down in a few days and things will get warm so get geared up and ready to get out and fish!!
