Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 11/18/2024
Brian brings us the forecast this week. It looks like we might get another small shot of rain in the middle part of this week and the extended outlook is showing we could have a bit more of a wet pattern at the end of the month. Temperatures will be mild most of the week with cold weather coming in Thursday when we will have a chance of snow or freezing precipitation in the morning. Highs will be in the 40's and 50's later this week and weekend so start to prepare to fish in much colder conditions than we have been experiencing. Mountain trout streams are still low and clear and brook trout are still spawning. Most of the DWR state stocked streams are in ok shape but running low and very clear. Back Creek, Jackson, Bullpasture, Cowpasture, Spring Run, North River, South River are stocked with mixed reports. Bullpasture was most recently stocked so anticipate it being busy for the next few days. Some of our local lakes have been stocked again. Hearthstone, Briery Branch, Hone Quarry, Elkhorn have been stocked and you can catch brookies and browns up at Switzer Reservoir. Musky and bass fishing should be good for a few days before this front hits. On the backside of the front anticipate the bass fishing to slow down. The pressure change and the colder temps will slow that bite that has been good lately. Musky fishing should remain good and the rivers are running pretty clean and clear of leaves. The rainy weather Wednesday - Thursday will take out a bunch of the remaining leaves. Check out the video for all the details and enjoy the week ahead!
