Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 1/28/2026
Brian brings us the fishing forecast for the week. Not many options are available right now unless you want to go ice fishing! Temps will be cold with highs in the 20's until early next week and lows in the single digits most nights. It looks like Most days next week will see temps above freezing in the mid to upper 30's but nights will still be in the teens and 20's. That means we will likely continue to have ice on most of the lakes and rivers for the next 10 days at least! So, you can try some spring creeks like Mossy, Beaver, Upper South, Buffalo, and Spring Run or hit the tailwaters right below the dams to find some 'soft water'. That said you will still have to deal with icy lines and cold fingers and toes. If you do head out make sure you have on your rubber boots as felt is a magnet for snow and ice and will make walking treacherous. The shop crew has been busy tying flies and getting new 2026 product in the shop in preparation for warmer weather. For those getting cabin fever now is a great time to tie some flies and organize your gear! Comb through your packs and tackle bags and organize those fly boxes and take inventory of leaders, tippet, and all of your accessories. We have extended our fly tying promotion to go through this coming weekend as well so enjoy 20% off on all fly tying material orders over $50! Stay warm out there and soon as we have a few more options to fish we will let you know!
