Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 1/19/2026
Nick brings us the forecast this week. We have a few decently warm days early this week with our last warm day around 49 on Thursday, then prepare for it to get really cold. Friday high of 39 and then highs in the 20's and lows in the single digits for the weekend and early next week. The good news is we may get a snowstorm over the weekend allowing for us to get some moisture in the ground and into our rivers. Fishing conditions again will be tolerable through Thursday and then we may be tying flies for a bit! Streams that have been stocked in the past week- Pedlar, Bullpasture, Back Creek DH, Jackson Special Reg, Passage Creek DH, North Fork Shenandoah, South River in Grottoes. Mountain streams will have some ice and will be very cold by the weekend. Lakes may freeze up over the weekend and next week if lows stay in the single digits. Get your bass and musky fishing in this week while you can! We have been getting out most mild days but the wind has been relentless most days giving us some challenging conditions. We will be focusing quite a bit on fly tying and prepping the shop for springtime. Stay tuned for some tying videos to keep you busy during this winter cold spell.
