Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 1/12/2026
Brian brings us a new forecast for the week ahead. We are excited to have gotten a shot of rain over the weekend. Around 1 inch of rain fell across the region and most of the streams around us are flowing at or above average right now. That means we can get back up in the mountains and enjoy some brook trout fishing, DWR will be able to stock more streams that had been running low, and our warmwater rivers have a bit more color to them giving us more advantage over our musky fishing. The next few days will be mild with less wind but we are looking at some cooler weather starting Thursday through the weekend with highs not breaking freezing! So if you are free, get out and enjoy some comfortable fishing with great conditions while you can. The trout fishing was miserable on Sunday on the backside of the front. It was windy and snow squalls were making fishing conditions borderline unbearable plus the fish had lockjaw. The bite activity should improve today and into Wednesday before the next cold front comes through. DWR has recently stocked Elkhorn lake, Jackson, Cowpasture, Tye, and Pedlar. Get your streamers prepped for this week and then get ready for some bottom bouncing with nymphs over the weekend and through next week when water temps are going to drop! Stop by and see us if you are heading out as the shop is currently loaded for winter fishing!
