Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 6/8/2026
Colby brings us the forecast this week. It is hot and water levels are dropping. Mountain streams look lowish again but running at 'average' flow for early June and fishing well. Little yellow stones are the most prevalent aquatic insect but there are also inch worms, ants, and beetles falling in the creeks now. Parawulffs in purple, front end loaders in purple, and purple parachutes have been great for the past 2 months but any little yellow stonefly pattern is working. Reports from anglers with the classics parachute adams, humpies, wulffs are also catching fish. Psycho prince, pheasant tails, hare's ear, prince nymphs are just about all you need subsurface. Tricos are coming off the spring creeks early and there are residual drakes and sulphurs available in the evening hours. Low light periods are best for trout fishing right now on these hot bright days. Fish from sunup to around 11am and then again the last hour of daylight for the best action. Mid week to the end of the week should bring about some overcast and rainy periods that should really boost our streamer fishing. Bass fishing has been great. Musky have been showing up in the mix lately while we are bass fishing. Carp are feeding most days so you have plenty of options on the warm water rivers right now. Plan on hot and muggy weather this week and then we get more mild with highs in the low 80's next week. Get out and take advantage of the trout fishing now while our water lasts!
