Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 5/16/2022

Brian brings us this weeks fishing forecast. This looks like a pretty incredible week for the trout anglers. The South Fork Shenandoah is running high and dirty right now. But most of our local trout waters are full of cold water and temps will be on the rise all week and we have epic insect hatches right now. Cahills, little yellow stones, sulphurs, and drakes are being reported. Large bushy dries are working great right now. Drop a size 14 attractor nymph off the back and the mountain trout will have a hard time refusing your offering. Tricos continue to get thicker on the spring creeks. Sulphurs and drakes are on the water in the late evening hours. Streamer fishing on the overcast days has been producing some big fish on the spring creeks. The James river is in decent shape right now but the South Fork will need most of the week to drop and clean up to fish well. Stop by the shop or browse online for the largest selection of fly gear from your favorite brands you will find anywhere in the region! We have everything you need to gear up for peak fishing season in the Shenandoah Valley and beyond.
