Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 3/18/2024
Brian brings us the forecast this week. Temps are trending downward so expect some cold and windy mornings this week when you head out. Cold nights with lows in the 20's and 30's will last into next week. Water levels are perfect right now and fishing has been great from the mountain tops to the valley floor. Brook trout fishing was excellent last week as water temps warmed up a bit. Flows were strong but have dropped a bit allowing for us to fish and cover quite a bit more water. Dry dropper rigs with bushy dry flies and attractor nymphs have been working well. We are hoping to see more caddis and quill gordons on the West side of the state this week. The caddis should also be popping on the spring creeks any day now giving us some good dry fly action. DWR has been out stocking a lot of streams and lakes recently. The usual attractor style nymphs and streamers will work on those fish until our hatches get thicker over the next few weeks. Bass fishing was good most of last week. Sundays wind made things a bit tough but the bite turned on late in the day when water temps were highest. We are seeing signs of musky moving to spawn. We have seen them in a few known spawning sites and many have cuts indicative of this time of year but we are still catching a few. Check out the video for all of the updates! Have a great week on the water.
