Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 2/28/2022

Brian brings us this weeks forecast. Everyone is getting excited to see temps in the 50's and 60's through the weekend. Early next week it is looking like we will see temps in the upper 60's! Nights will still be cold and likely below freezing until next week. The brook trout fishing has been good and the bump in water flow recently has most creeks and streams running near average flows. We anticipate seeing an increase in the insect activity as we continue to warm up. The spring creeks are full of water. Susie Q was recently stocked and ready for the spring season. Give us a call to book your day today! Beaver Creek, Mossy, Buffalo, Spring Run, and Upper South have great water flow and clarity right now. Streamer fishing was good over the weekend when it was a bit more overcast. Try sculpin patterns deep on the bottom or try a kreelex, sparkle minnow, or bunny muddler stripped erratically to trigger a strike. Don't forget your split shot, heavy nymphs, and indicators right now on the spring creeks and freestone streams. Jiggy Pats, Blow Torch, Squirmy Jigs, Y2K, Psycho Prince, and Jigged Prince, Pheasant Tails, and Caddis should be in everyones boxes. DWR has been out stocking our favorite local waters like North River DH, Jackson, Spring Run, Cowpasture, Bullpasture, and Back Creek. The South Branch Catch and Release Section in WV has also been stocked. If you need to get geared up for the spring, we have never had so much inventory! You will not find a larger selection of waders, boots, rods, reels, lines, accessories, flies, packs, bags, and vests in the region!
