Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 9/9/2024

Nick brings us the forecast this week. We had an enjoyable weekend on the water. Nights were cold with lows in the upper 30's but this week is looking awesome. Highs around 80 and lows in the mid to upper 50's will make for perfect weather to be outside! Our float trips are reporting good fishing today and we expect some great bass fishing over the next few weeks. Damselflies and dragonflies are still flying around and the annual cicadas are dropping giving the fish meals off the surface. The low and clear conditions are giving us good topwater fishing especially in the afternoons and evenings on warm days. Bass have been coughing up tan and olive colored crayfish in the boat lately as well. Todd's wiggle minnow, Seasoned Geezers, and other baitfish patterns are also working well as there are tons of minnows and baitfish scattered around the star grass beds and water willow. Enjoy these last few weeks of good topwater action before the cold sets in! Musky fishing has been back on the menu for some folks. Low and clear conditions will make for some spooky fish but the musky are active right now and willing to eat! We continue to see carp cruising the flats and feeding in the shallows. Carp are usually pretty active in our waters until temps drop below 55 degrees. Trout fishing options are becoming more limited as water levels continue to drop. We don't have any rainfall in sight this week but are hopeful for a change in weather pattern by the middle part of the month. The spring creeks have tricos hatching in the mornings, grasshoppers, crickets, damselflies, beetles, and ants all day, and a few spotty hex in the evening hours. Most of our brook trout water is getting low once again. Dry River was fishing pretty well last week after some big thunderstorms dropped a good load of rain in that drainage. Keep your fingers crossed for rain so we can have a good fall season!! Check out the video for all the details.
