Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 8/14/2023
Brian brings us the forecast this week. We have a slight chance for a shot of rain Monday night. Fingers crossed we get a downpour to help bump up flows again as we are still very dry. Trout fishing is still going to be best on the spring creeks and tailwaters. Tricos continue to hatch in the morning with the spinner fall between 8:30 and 9am. Hex are hatching now and they are swarming in the evening hours. Beetles, hoppers, and ants are still the BEST trout patterns right now with our current conditions. Warm and dry weather has our hopper population flourishing right now. Most of our hoppers are green, yellow, and brown. PMX are are also one of the best flies to fish right now as it imitates a hopper or one of the big hex mayflies. The bass fishing continues to be excellent. The South Fork has been amazing this summer. Water levels are running below average right now and very clear. This could change Monday night if we get a big storm roll through. Warm and stable weather on the backside of this front should give us good fishing through the weekend. Cork poppers, deer hair bugs and frogs, wiggle minnows, soft chews, murdich minnows, murdich wigglers, clawdads, ck baitfish, galloup streamers, drunk and disorderly will all get the job done. This is one of the most fun times of the year to bass fish as the sight fishing can be excellent. The visual eats will make you want to come back for more! Check out the video for all the great details.
