Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 6/30/2025

Brian brings us the forecast this week. It is the end of June and officially there isn't any area of Virginia in drought right now, not even in the lowest level of drought! Rain has been steady pretty much every week for over a month now and we have water that should last us through much of July at this point. Mountain brook trout fishing has been good. Water temps have been safe in the low to mid 60's at higher elevations. As long as water flows are strong air temp doesn't usually affect water temps too much. We had days in the upper 90's last week in the Valley while temps on top of the mountain were around 83 plus its cooler in the shade and when you are standing knee deep in 60 degree water! So if you are looking to beat the heat, go visit a high elevation brook trout stream and enjoy some great dry fly fishing while it lasts! Tricos continue to hatch on the spring creeks and beetles, ants, and hoppers are going to continue to fish better! Watch the forecast for overcast and rainy weather as those days have really been producing more and better quality fish. Bass fishing will be tough until the rivers clear and clean up. We have more rain in the forecast Monday and Tuesday and then after that it is looking warm and beautiful through the weekend! Check out the video for all the latest updates!!
