Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 6/19/2023
Nick brings us the forecast this week. We finally have some good news about the extended forecast. All of our weather apps are showing rain Monday evening through next Tuesday and possibly beyond! This could be the reset we have been waiting for. Totals are anywhere from 2-4 inches by the end of the week and thunderstorms could produce even more locally. 10 days of rain could really help to recharge the aquifer as well to keep our springs and ground water in check. High water should immediately crank up our mountain stream fishing. The brook trout will be happy and hungry to spread out from their sanctuary pools. We expect the spring creeks will rise and get some color that might spoil our dry fly fishing but allow us to chuck some streamers for the first time in a while. The bass rivers were getting 'end of summer' low making for some spooky fishing conditions. A big rain event will help flush out the algae and goo that has been forming in the shallows lately and bump up and replenish flows allowing for anglers to navigate the river a bit easier. As the weather develops over the next week the team at the shop will help update anglers on creeks and streams coming back online as well as anything that might blow out. So don't bury all your trout gear in the garage just yet! We are hopeful that a weeks worth of rain might reload us for the remainder of June and on into July! Until then you might think about grabbing some streamers and big bushy nymphs to fish on these rainy overcast days ahead. If you need rain gear or waders we have you covered with a ton of options at the shop!
