Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 5/28/2024

We hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday weekend! There were a lot of folks in the area taking advantage of our excellent water flow in the mountains and on the spring creeks. Andy brings us the forecast this week. The green drake hatch is going strong but it won't last too long! Get out and enjoy that evening hatch before it is over. Tricos have gotten thick on the spring creeks and we have been enjoying watching fish rise early in the morning taking these small flies. This reliable hatch lasts through the summer months, so be sure to have some trico patterns in your boxes. Mix in some ants, beetles, small hoppers, and some bushy dries like stimulators and pmx to cover some of the terrestrial insects along with the larger mayflies. Up in the mountains ants, beetles, and little yellow stoneflies will dominate once the drake hatch is over. Bass fishing should be excellent this week. Temps will cool off so expect a little slower bite early in the week on the backside of the large weekend front. We have some gusty wind early in the week but it will be mild and nice for the 2nd half of the week with lows in the 40's and highs in the low 70's! Very comfortable weather is ahead to be outside camping, hiking, and fishing! With water levels being just about perfect for this time of year we are excited for the next few weeks with this super comfortable weather!
