Mossy Creek Fly Fishing 6/2/2025

Brian brings us the forecast this week. Rain fell last week and has left us with near perfect water flows in the mountains, on the spring creeks, and our warm water rivers are clearing up and we will be back out on them tomorrow chasing bass and musky! We have sunny skies and summer-like weather most of this week with another system bringing rain Friday night and through the weekend. We anticipate some excellent fishing conditions. Dry fly fishing in the mountains should be amazing. We have little yellow stones, some sulphurs, and drakes still hatching. Ants and beetles are also popular choices for our native brook trout this time of year. Most attractor nymphs in size 12-14 and big bushy dry flies are in play in these higher water flows. Spring creeks are seeing fish take tricos early in the mornings, ants, beetles, small hoppers throughout the day, and rusty spinners, drakes, or sulphur patterns in the evenings. Sculpin, minnow, leech, and crayfish patterns subsurface out at Beaver Creek, Mossy Creek, Smith Creek, Spring Run, Buffalo, and upper South River. DWR has completed its stocking for springtime but some of the larger rivers were just stocked. The Jackson, Bullpasture, Cowpasture, North River, and South River should provide some good fishing for the next few weeks while water levels are good. Bass fishing was excellent last week with rising water levels and should be awesome this week with stable weather and warm temperatures! We hope the topwater bite is back by the end of this week! Musky fishing has been good and those fish are aggressive right now so take advantage of the good conditions while water temps are favorable! Check out the full video for additional details and have an awesome week!!!
