Tying the "Ned Rig" Fly

Colby shares a very simple and effective fly based off the hottest and most effective finess lures from the conventional and tournament fishing world. The Ned Rig is a plain and simple small soft plastic worm usually around 2.75" to 3" long and it is fished on a simple jig head. No bells, no whistles and catches fish like crazy. When fish are in a particular feeding pattern and acting picky, this fly can be a day saver! Keep it dressed down with just our new Ned Tail with some chenille or spice it up with brush, CCT Body Fur, or your favorite wrapping dressing. Add rubber legs, chenille, zonker and go crazy with your imagination. But don't forget to add some basic patterns to your box in black, brown, and olive.
Gamakastsu jig hooks, the Umpqua XS 506 in size 2 or 4, or Mustad Hard Head Jig in size 1 or any streamer hook that is 1.5" long with bead heads or dumbell eyes will work best with this size tail.
