Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 7/14/2025

Nick brings us the forecast this week from a soggy Shenandoah Valley. Rain is in the forecast again for the next 10 days with the bulk of rain looking to hit Monday into Wednesday. We are currently under another flash flood advisory as all of our local creeks, streams, and rivers are full. While rainfall totals on Monday are looking like a quarter inch, these slow moving thunderstorms are dropping 1 to 2 inches an hour creating high and dirty water conditions in those areas. Right now even our smallest creeks are running full. We are hoping to be able to fish Skidmore Fork, Dry River, North River, and the Park streams in a few days but we will be watching the radars and gauges every afternoon as storms develop. As rivers become fishable we will update as we can on our social media channels. Smallmouth fishing is on hold until the South Fork clears up as it is running very muddy right now mostly from the Middle River drainage. The spring creeks are really full and stained right now. Once they clear up we will be back to fishing tricos, beetles, hoppers, and dry dropper rigs. Until then be sure to have plenty of streamers, especially this week as you will encounter dirty water most days and hopefully some good quality blanket overcast and rainy conditions. Forecast is a bit more brief this week as we anticipate conditions to change daily. Hopefully rain will be light and allow for us to maintain flows with improved visibility! Despite missing some good fishing days we are thankful for all the wet weather lately! We are going to have impressive water flows well into summer at this point!
