Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 3/20/2023
Brian brings us the forecast this week. Today is starting off COLD but it will be a sunny day with temps in the 50's. Spring is officially here and we will see some temperatures in the 70's later this week. Insects will be hatching later this week. Keep an eye out for Quill Gordons and caddis up in the mountains. Caddis are coming off the spring creeks. Brook trout fishing should be really good, possibly the best it has been so far this year by the weekend. DWR is out stocking the local waters. North River DH was stocked again and was loaded with brown trout and some big ones have been reported. The Cowpasture, Jackson Special Reg, Bullpasture, and Passage have also been recently stocked. Many with brown trout, brook trout, and tiger trout. Over in West VA the Elk, Back Fork Elk, South Branch, North Fork of South Branch have been loaded up. Beaver Creek, Smith Creek, and Mossy have all recently been stocked and should be prime for the spring season! Our winter bass fishing has been excellent and as water temps warm up you should expect the fishing to really crank up by the end of this week and into next week. We will monitor water temps as we anticipate the musky will begin moving to spawn in the next few weeks. If you haven't geared up for spring yet our shop is LOADED with gear from spring as we have accepted our first preseason orders from Simms, Orvis, Fishpond, Sage, Rio, Redington, and more. Peak season in the mountains of Virginia is just kicking off! Let's hit the water!
