Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 2/23/2026

Brian brings us the forecast this week. Expect 40's and 50's for the highs this week with 60's by the weekend but it will be chilly at night and windy most days! Water levels are running high just about everywhere. The mountain streams are running full right now but many are clear enough to fish. We hit North River over the weekend and while the water was high, it was clean and we caught plenty of fish. Reports from Beaver Creek were good as well. Mossy is high and dirty but fishable. The streamer fishing should be excellent for the next few weeks! The warmwater rivers have thawed and flowing strong. We will see some dirty water conditions for the next few days and with rain later this week so bass and musky fishing could be a bit challenging until conditions improve. DWR has been out stocking a lot of fish lately. North River upper, Natural Chimneys, Dry River, South River, North Fork Shenandoah, Maury, Cowpasture, and more. Get your strike indicators, split shot, big nymphs, and your streamers ready for action! I'd be excited for the weekend as we will have some warm weather and hopefully picture perfect water levels!
