Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 12/12/2022
Brian brings us the forecast this week. We have stable cool weather early this week and some rainy, snowy, icy crud coming in Wednesday night into Thursday. Friday through the weekend look nice with sunny weather in the 40's. The streamer fishing should be good on the spring creeks and larger freestone streams while we have these overcast conditions. BWO's were coming off thick on Smith Creek and Mossy Creek Sunday afternoon. We have very clear water and when the duns are thick on the water you can find some steadily rising fish. Be sure to have your streamer gear and a nice soft 9' 4 weight rod to deliver dries to rising fish! As the weather gets colder this week be sure to have plenty of split shot, heavy flies, and indicators. We will be fishing deep and slow for the best success. Recently stocked waters are that have been fishing well but have had a bit of traffic are South River downtown and North River DH. Quality fish are still being reported from Back Creek DH, Jackson Special Reg, Bullpasture, and Spring Run. Many of our favorite catch and release streams in West VA are also being stocked! Check out their page for updates.
