The fly of choice was a commercial rendition of Cal Bird’s Bird’s Nest. With a few #16’s, a spool of 5X, and some BB shot, I felt unstoppable. Once beads came forward, I began working on my own version of the Bird’s Nest, and after a good deal of experimentation settled on the Dirty Bird, which was my first-ever royalty pattern. After nearly three decades of fishing it, it remains my go-to pattern. If I want to skip the careful observation period and just go fishing, this is my fly. It is super generic and buggy and works as a caddis, mayfly and scud. The black bead is more subtle and realistic than other beads and the fly works great dead-drifted or on the swing.\u003c\/span\u003e","published_at":"2023-11-14T14:14:42-05:00","created_at":"2023-11-14T14:14:42-05:00","vendor":"RIO Products","type":"Flies","tags":["By Species_Trout","Flies","Fly Type_Nymphs","Fly Type_Wet Fly","Nymph Type_Bead Head"],"price":275,"price_min":275,"price_max":275,"available":true,"price_varies":false,"compare_at_price":275,"compare_at_price_min":275,"compare_at_price_max":275,"compare_at_price_varies":false,"variants":[{"id":46014904828137,"title":"10","option1":"10","option2":null,"option3":null,"sku":"","requires_shipping":true,"taxable":true,"featured_image":null,"available":true,"name":"Morrish Dirty Bird Hare's Ear - 10","public_title":"10","options":["10"],"price":275,"weight":0,"compare_at_price":275,"inventory_quantity":35,"inventory_management":"shopify","inventory_policy":"deny","barcode":"04828137","requires_selling_plan":false,"selling_plan_allocations":[]},{"id":46014904860905,"title":"12","option1":"12","option2":null,"option3":null,"sku":"","requires_shipping":true,"taxable":true,"featured_image":null,"available":true,"name":"Morrish Dirty Bird Hare's Ear - 12","public_title":"12","options":["12"],"price":275,"weight":0,"compare_at_price":275,"inventory_quantity":61,"inventory_management":"shopify","inventory_policy":"deny","barcode":"04860905","requires_selling_plan":false,"selling_plan_allocations":[]},{"id":46014904893673,"title":"14","option1":"14","option2":null,"option3":null,"sku":"","requires_shipping":true,"taxable":true,"featured_image":null,"available":true,"name":"Morrish Dirty Bird Hare's Ear - 14","public_title":"14","options":["14"],"price":275,"weight":0,"compare_at_price":275,"inventory_quantity":39,"inventory_management":"shopify","inventory_policy":"deny","barcode":"04893673","requires_selling_plan":false,"selling_plan_allocations":[]},{"id":46014904926441,"title":"16","option1":"16","option2":null,"option3":null,"sku":"","requires_shipping":true,"taxable":true,"featured_image":null,"available":true,"name":"Morrish Dirty Bird Hare's Ear - 16","public_title":"16","options":["16"],"price":275,"weight":0,"compare_at_price":275,"inventory_quantity":10,"inventory_management":"shopify","inventory_policy":"deny","barcode":"04926441","requires_selling_plan":false,"selling_plan_allocations":[]}],"images":["\/\/mossycreekflyfishing.com\/cdn\/shop\/files\/dirtybirdharesear.jpg?v=1699989417"],"featured_image":"\/\/mossycreekflyfishing.com\/cdn\/shop\/files\/dirtybirdharesear.jpg?v=1699989417","options":["Size"],"media":[{"alt":"Morrish Dirty Bird Hare's Ear - Mossy Creek Fly Fishing","id":34232963072233,"position":1,"preview_image":{"aspect_ratio":1.0,"height":3000,"width":3000,"src":"\/\/mossycreekflyfishing.com\/cdn\/shop\/files\/dirtybirdharesear.jpg?v=1699989417"},"aspect_ratio":1.0,"height":3000,"media_type":"image","src":"\/\/mossycreekflyfishing.com\/cdn\/shop\/files\/dirtybirdharesear.jpg?v=1699989417","width":3000}],"requires_selling_plan":false,"selling_plan_groups":[],"content":"\u003cmeta charset=\"UTF-8\"\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eIn the late 80’s, long before beadheads reached the Americas and as my slack-line nymphing game came into its own, I became darn near a one-pattern angler.
