Come see why we are the most popular fly fishing guide service in Virginia! Our guides work together on and off the water making sure our clients get the best possible experience on the water. Our guides are friendly, outgoing, and experienced anglers who have fished the local waters for years. We offer half and full day guided trips on our local spring creeks for trout and on local rivers for bass, musky and carp. Peak trout season begins in March and continues through June and we guide on the rivers year round!
Summer trout fishing is especially exciting on the spring creeks. Fishing big terrestrial patterns to aggressive fish is a client favorite. Winter fishing is often overlooked but our clients enjoy fishing through the winter as the weather can be mild and fishing pressure is almost non-existent. From March-September our clients are on the Shenandoah and James Rivers on float trips for smallmouth, largemouth, carp, and musky. The smallmouth fishing is typically best from April through September while the musky fishing is best May through June and September-February.
The Shenandoah Valley lies just two hours outside of our nation’s capital and offers incredibly diverse freshwater fishing. Find mountain brook trout, spring creek rainbows and browns in close proximity to some of the best smallmouth, carp, and musky fishing in the country.
We offer the largest amount of privately accessible trout water and boat landings in Virginia. The Shop manages 9 sections of trophy trout water on local spring creeks and limestone streams. Because of the unique nature of our landowner agreements, anglers never pay additional rod fees when guided on our private waters. Anglers enjoy peaceful fishing in natural setting on fly fishing only, catch and release water. We practice the best possible management practices, working closely with VDGIF biologists and Trout Unlimited consultants to provide exceptional fishing opportunities for our clients. Our shop also has many landowner agreements for access to the Shenandoah and James River on private land allowing us to provide float trips away from sections of river with high traffic or lack of public boat ramps. Our clients can enjoy fishing waters with the best fish densities and the least amount of angling pressure.
Virginia is blessed with more than 2,000 miles of wild mountain brook trout water, much of it in the Shenandoah National Park and GW Forest around the Shenandoah Valley. Virginia supports more 800 miles of State stocked waters, special regulation areas, delayed harvest water, and catch and release waters. Numerous boat ramps exist on the Shenandoah and James Rivers where we host our float trips for bass, musky, and carp. All accessible water within a reasonable driving distance from our fly shop is used for our guide services. We have guides licensed for the Shenandoah National Park for wild brook trout and all guides can fish in the GW Forest and Valley streams and rivers. Many anglers opt to fish local public waters to learn where to fish and how to fish them so they can return again on their own. Whether anglers choose public water or private water for their guided trip, our guides and shop staff always offer advice on what local waters are fishing best so our customers will always have the best possible Virginia fly fishing experience!
