Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Forecast 3/11/2024

Brian brings us the forecast this week. March has come in like a lion as it has been very breezy on the backside of the fronts rolling through weekly. Today is a bit more calm than anticipated but still be careful as we have advisories of gusts over 40mph. The weather will calm down Monday night and nice weather will return Tuesday on through the weekend with temps hitting the 70s by Thursday with lows in the 50's! Overcast and rainy weather is only expected on Friday afternoon into Saturday morning. Outside of that we currently have full streams and rivers everywhere. Rainfall on Saturday hit around 1 inch regionally when we were only anticipating 1/4 to 1/2 an inch. Rivers like the Shenandoah, James, and new will be running high most of this week but they have crested and are currently dropping. The mountain streams are full and look beautiful. The spring creeks are bank full and should fish very well this week. DWR has recently stocked the Jackson, Bullpasture, Cowpasture, Back Creek, South River, Tye, Roanoke, Passage Creek DH, along with a bunch of stillwaters- Elkhorn, Hearthstone, Upper and Lower Sherando, Briery Branch, and Hone Quarry. Bass and musky fishing will be on hold for a few days until water levels drop back to manageable levels. Until then enjoy the prime trout fishing conditions across the Valley this week!
