Tying the Kreelex

We consider the Kreelex as the KING of all streamers. Chuck Kraft designed this fly literally in his sleep before heading down to Chile to guide for a few months. This flashy fly has gotten him very close to winning multiple “One Fly” Tournaments in Jackson Wyoming. It is responsible for a few of the biggest trout we have ever landed and is an absolute killer anywhere in the world.

Use this for

Big trout, little trout, medium sized trout, they all eat this fly! A great shad fly in small sizes, a great striper fly in large sizes, the kreelex will do it all. Many anglers love it for smallmouth bass as well. The kreelex is almost impossible to tear apart and destroy and it is responsible for catching some of the biggest trout we see each year!

How to fish it

The Kreelex can be swung, fished tight lined on a dead drift, or stripped fast. We tend to find the fish react best to the Kreelex in high off color water or on overcast days. Short, quick strips will allow this fly to throw a ton of light to get any fish nearby interested.

This is the original folks. Don’t be fooled by generic versions. We are great friends with legendary guide Chuck Kraft and these are tied exactly to his specs! A very effective and durable “flash fly.” Gives off a lot of light and movement, and is very easy to cast. Much more durable than similar flies tied with Flashabou. Fabulous for shad in the spring and an excellent large trout fly.
